There was a symmetry to their randomness.
Each marked the site of one man’s joust with nature.
Floating listlessly on the blue tarmac of the sea,
like the harbor guides of the ancient mariner.
Below, a basket trap.
Technique unchanged by time.
The trawler churned from place mat to place mat.
A delicate cargo -
No delicate man’s concern.
